Position Summary: The Sexual Health Project Manager will develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services designed to address increasing sexual health education, sexual health services, and safe and supportive environments. The Sexual Health Project Manager provides critical leadership in implementing the District's Sexual Health Education Policy. The Specialist will advance the District's commitment to student health and wellness, focusing on policies, education, services, and professional development.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Conduct outreach and provide expert guidance and support to schools in achieving the goals of the District's sexual health initiatives

  • Partner with community based organizations to increase access to sexual health education, sexual health services, and safe and supportive environments for LGBTQ+ youth

  • Develop and execute professional development opportunities for school staff and stakeholders

  • Engage school leadership, including principals and local school councils, teachers, and parents in sexual health initiatives

  • Collaborate with relevant CPS departments and facilitate relationships to ensure internal alignment of efforts to achieve OSHW goals

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with organizations providing sexual health education, sexual health services, and safe and supportive environments training and support in Chicago Public Schools

  • Collect, report, and monitor data regarding internal and external partners providing sexual health education and health related services. Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies that promote sexual health education, access to health services, and increase of safe and supportive environments.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of internal and external OSHW communications strategy in collaboration with department leadership.

  • Manage evaluation of sexual health initiatives

  • Conduct frequent research on current resources, policies, best practices, and guidance that will inform program implementation and outcomes of HIV/STI Prevention Initiative

  • Prepare outreach and educational documents, fact sheets, and other communication materials related to sexual health initiatives

  • Facilitate and lead the work of the Sexual Health Advisory Committee through the establishment of meeting schedules, communications and project goals

  • Monitor budgets and expenses related to sexual health initiatives

  • Coordinate and lead efforts on grant writing and management

  • Manage, update and align the CPS sexual health education curriculum with relevant national and state standards as needed

  • Serve as a member of Health and Wellness Materials Review Committee and provide guidance on curricula

  • Lead the development and execution of a parent engagement strategy to support sexual health initiatives

  • Provide schools with technical assistance on policy implementation

  • Spokesperson for sexual health team and initiatives at community, coalition and stakeholder meetings

  • Supervise and provide mentorship to three Sexual Health Specialists and various miscellaneous staff on completing assigned tasks and activities addressing adolescent sexual health

  • Support and participate in the District's Healthy CPS initiative

  • Other duties as assigned



Type of Education Required:

Master's degree preferred. Bachelor's degree required.

Type of experience and number of years:

  • Three- five years' experience in program development and implementation

  • Experience in project management concepts, practices and procedures

  • Working knowledge of sexual health initiatives

  • Working knowledge of educational field

  • Knowledge of curriculum writing and development

  • Must be proficient with the use of computers and software including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Access

  • Experience with the management of federal grants and reporting (3 years)

  • Experience working with/collaborating with urban public schools preferred

  • Experience working with adolescent population



Qualifications for job:

  • Experience leading and forging productive collaborations

  • Exceptional writing, verbal and interpersonal skills, including public speaking

  • Experience with grant writing and reporting(3 years)

  • Keen analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to think "big picture" as well as to translate ideas into realistic, actionable plans

  • Ability to handle and respond to competing priorities

  • Ability to synthesize and apply information for different audiences

  • Ability to collaborate with other CPS departments, with a high level of personal investment in contributing to the priorities of the organization as a whole.

  • Experience and adeptness in meeting facilitation

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred



Residency Expectation:

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), an employee must be an actual resident of the City of Chicago or become a resident within six months of the date of his/her employment with Chicago Public Schools.
