The SOEPS offers a number of Baccalaureate degrees including Elementary Education, Exercise Science, Secondary Education, and additional minors. Masters degrees include M.S. Ed. programs in Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Technology Specialist, Literacy, and Special Education; MST programs in Childhood Education and Secondary Education; and M.S. programs in Community Health and Management. The Community Health program is seeking accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health. Founded in 1816, SUNY Potsdam, the oldest higher education institution in the State University of New York, has long been recognized as one of the leading public colleges in the United States. It has been ranked, consistently, in the top tier of public and private institutions in the Northern Regional Universities category of "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News and World Report. Entering its third century, the institution continues to pride itself on academic excellence and serving an increasingly diverse student population-29 percent of students are from a diverse background, including students from 28 states and international students from 14 different countries. With three other higher education institutions within a 10-mile radius, SUNY Potsdam provides for cross registration among four unique colleges and enjoys the benefits of a culturally active college town.
