Climate Manager is a CASA-represented, 10-month position.

Salary Range:
Bachelor's Degree Minimum: $64,217 Maximum: $78,821
Master's Degree Minimum: $64,217 Maximum: $94,857
Please note that anyone new to the CASA union will start at the minimum salary for this position, regardless of prior experience.
Job Summary
Supports the principal in overseeing the school's climate plan to ensure an environment that is conducive to learning. Under the direction of the Principal, works with staff to ensure that students' social-emotional needs are met.
Essential Functions
  • Under the direction of the Principal, coordinates all climate, behavioral and discipline programs and services to ensure that students receive the full complement of prevention and intervention measures prior to disciplinary action being taken.
  • Under the direction of the Principal, provides technical support and guidance to school staff for students with actual or potential behavioral and/or social/emotional problems; provides direction to the School Climate Liaison and Climate Support Specialist; supervises the implementation of school-based and district-wide school climate initiatives and participates in and supervises the enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Under the direction of the Principal, provides assistance and coordinates support services to students transitioning back into school from disciplinary or other behavioral related placements, including the Reentry Transition Initiative-Welcome Return Assessment Program (RETI-WRAP).
  • Under the direction of the Principal, networks with external partners and assists with the coordination of interagency collaborations with organizations which provide school-based behavioral programs and services.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of full-time, paid professional experience working with children with behavioral and/or disciplinary issues in a school.
OR
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of full-time, paid professional experience working with children with behavioral and/or disciplinary issues in a school.
OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • theories and principles of student growth and development.
  • the principles, practices and procedures of school climate systems and implementation.
  • techniques of supervision and the delegation of responsibility.
  • current social, educational, and economic issues as they relate to urban families.
Knowledge of:
  • evidenced-based school climate strategies.
  • the development of an effective school climate structure and evaluation of services.
  • data-based decision making.
Ability to:
  • assess, advise, direct and supervise the activities of personnel engaged in the provision of non-instructional services.
  • operate a personal computer.
  • express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • effectively supervise the implementation of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Additional Information
In order to progress from Pay Step 7 to Pay Step 8, the employee must possess a master's degree.

Candidates meeting the qualifications of the role will be invited to complete a performance task. Those who pass the performance task will then be invited to an in-person interview. Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list, which will be shared with principal. Final hiring will be determined by an interview with the principal.
