Positive Outcomes Charter School is looking for a part-time (5-10 Hours Per Week) temporary homebound teacher to provide supports for students on an as needed basis. This position may also be expanded to include in-school supports if our instruction needs increase.

Positive Outcomes Charter School is a small charter school that opened in September 1996. Positive Outcomes is not an alternative school. We work with students who are struggling to find success in traditional classrooms. Our school is comprised of approximately 75% of students with disabilities which qualify for services.

Positive Outcomes is an incredible place for young people to design their own futures, and will continue to serve as a model for the education of students who have had some difficulty achieving success in traditional school settings. We believe students learn best when they are engaged in rich and connected learning experiences that allow them space to think, to create, and to share. We also support experiential learning and believe students should leave the school building often for fieldwork, community service, and internships.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Qualify, or be eligible for, at time of hire, for State of Delaware certification as a Special Education Teacher. (Additional ELA and Math Certification Prefered but not required)
  • Applicant must demonstrate a level of knowledge and/or experience appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community at large.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Favorable Criminal Background Check for the candidate who is offered employment.
  • Tuberculin test & physical.
  • Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Teach students in a home or public environment.

Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.

Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.

Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and -in harmony with the goals—establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicates these objectives to students.

Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary.

Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulation.

Administers appropriate and required informal and formal assessments based on student need and state regulations.

Performs other duties as assigned
