Job Summary

Skilled work at the journeyman level. Troubleshoots, services, repairs, and maintains televisions, CCTV security and TV broadcast systems, audio-visual equipment, and associated instructional equipment. This class lies below that of Instructional Equipment Repair Foreperson and Instructional Equipment Repair Lead Worker.


Essential Functions

1. Troubleshoots, services, repairs and maintains televisions, CCTV security and TV broadcast systems, TV studios, audio-visual equipment, and associated instructional equipment.

2. Operates computers, radios, calculators, motor vehicles, electronic testing equipment, power tools and associated hand tools.

3. Loads software for updates and upgrades to security DVR's and monitoring stations.

4. Operates equipment and inspects machines to test moving parts and locate cause(s) of trouble.

5. Disassembles machines as required and examines rollers, guides, gears, trucks, pinions, slides, etc. for wear and defects.

6. Cleans machines and replaces parts as needed.

7. Troubleshoots and repairs electronic equipment to the board and/or component level.

8. Provides technical assistances and instructions to customers regarding the operation and care of assigned equipment.

9. Assembles and/or installs new, rebuilt, or reassigned televisions, CCTV security and TV broadcast systems audio-visual equipment, and associated instructional equipment to include networking.

10. Completes forms and records such as work orders, mileage logs, time sheets and field orders.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Open Requirements: A four (4) year combination of education, training and experience involving bench service and repair at the component level of televisions, CCTV security and TV broadcast systems, and/or audio-visual equipment, and associated instructional equipment.

Licensing/Certification/Registration: A valid Florida driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.

  • Knowledge of the techniques, methods, practices and procedures used in the service and repair of televisions, CCTV security and TV broadcast systems, audio-visual equipment, and associated instructional equipment
  • Knowledge of the equipment, tools, and materials used in the service and repair of televisions, CCTV security and TV broadcast systems, audio-visual equipment, and associated instructional equipment
  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and database software skills
  • Strong skills in the service and repair of televisions, CCTV security and TV broadcast systems, audio-visual equipment, and associated instructional equipment

  • Ability to read, interpret and work from schematics, diagrams, repair manuals, specifications, and contracts
  • Ability to diagnose problems and repair televisions, CCTV security and TV broadcast systems, audio-visual equipment and associated instructional equipment
