  • TYPE OF APPOINTMENT ISSUED: This position is included in the Educational Officers' Bargaining Unit and will be filled as a clear line appointment.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: COMPLEX SCHOOL RENEWAL SPECIALIST II
    Training: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in education or a closely related field.
    Education Desirable: Degree with specialization in systemic change, school improvement, or school administration.
    Experience: Six (6) years of responsible work experience in education of which four (4) years shall have been in teaching and two (2) years in implementing curriculum improvement at the school level.
    Experience Desirable: Two (2) years of administration at the school, district or state level that involved the supervision of professional personnel.
    Knowledge of: Foundations of curriculum and instruction; the school renewal process and the process of change; foundations of American education; principles of learning and individual differences; tests and measurements; relevant laws, rules, regulations and administrative procedures.
    Knowledge Desirable: Educational leadership and administration; principles and practices of supervision; instructional media and computers; assessment and evaluation; academic learning techniques; student support services and programs; principles of research; standards-based education; strategies to effect school transformation; and evidence based practices.
    Ability to: Provide leadership, planning and coordination of effective support services to schools within a complex; communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing; operate computer and other business machines.
    Skills/Abilities Desirable: Develop, analyze and evaluate plans, programs and procedures; use tools, equipment, instruments or devices appropriate to all the areas of the assignment; and maintain awareness of developments in curriculum or program ideas.
  • A WRITTEN EXAMINATION/ASSIGNMENT MAY BE ADMINISTERED TO HELP DETERMINE POSSESSION OF THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES PORTIONS OF THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS.
  • Duties and Responsibilities: Under the general supervision of the Complex Area Superintendent of the Leilehua-Mililani-Waialua Complex Area, the Complex School Renewal Specialist II:
    1. Assists and supports schools within the complex with the implementation of the performance standards and data for school improvement to develop and operationalize their visions. Coordinates services of complex area resource teachers.
    2. Plans, coordinates and conducts staff/professional development, leadership and human resource development activities. Assists and supports schools with new teacher development.
    3. Serves as a resource and linker to state offices; identifies and coordinates use of resources within and among schools, complexes, district and state. Facilitates articulation and cooperation between schools within the complex. Coordinates the implementation of complex-wide plans.
    4. Facilitates curriculum, instructional and technical development and implementation for schools within the complex. Facilitates long term strategic planning for schools within the complex.
    5. Assists and supports schools within the complex with accreditation and the school improvement, restructuring and renewal process. Assists schools within the complex with assessment and evaluation activities.
    6. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • SALARY RANGE: EOSR-7, $95,483 to $135,163. Department of Education certificated employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations. All others will be placed on the first step of $95,483.
  • WORK YEAR AND BENEFITS: This appointment will be on a 12-month basis with vacation and sick leave provided according to applicable regulations.
