Job Description:

Camelot Education is a nationally recognized organization providing educational services to children and adolescents throughout the United States. Camelot has over 40 school campuses located in six states and is continuing to grow. Camelot provides Alternative Education services to inner city schools for children who have dropped out of school, been expelled or at risk for either.

We are currently recruiting creative, compassionate, caring Special Education Teachers (what we call our Diverse Learning Teachers) to join our staff, eager to help our students excel academically and achieve post-secondary success. We are currently accepting applications for Certified Special Education Teachers at our Excel Academy of Englewood campus.

This accelerated programs addresses the growing problem of overage under credit and at risk high school students. Students range from grades 6-12, and are supported by a team of professionals that include leadership positions, credentialed teachers leading direct instruction, and behavior management professionals.

Our Special Education Teachers (Diverse Learning Teachers) are responsible for designing and providing instruction in accordance with curriculum planning and timing guidelines. Teachers also conduct frequent and appropriate assessments to determine student understanding. Works well with other instructional staff, support staff and administration with a focus on producing favorable academic outcomes and a positive school climate.

Our ideal candidates would be a professionals who have a desire to reach out to students who may need extra classroom and behavioral supports, the ability to use a variety of engagement practices in an inclusion setting, and the skills to reflect on and improve instructional strategies.

Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Current Illinois Special Education Type 10 Teacher Certification or Type 09 with LBS1 endorsement
• One year experience working with at-risk youth preferred
• Proven ability and working knowledge with Microsoft software applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
