    TITLE: District STEM Learning Coach

    REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Instructional Technology

    SUPERVISES: N/A

    JOB FUNCTION: Provide STEM instruction across all grade levels, support teachers, administrators, and staff in the development, implementation, and integration of STEM activities to promote excellence and support transformational change throughout the instructional environment; create and support effective STEM based learning environments to maximize the learning of all students; and develop high quality STEM-related professional learning programs.

    • Increase effective use of next generation skills by students and staff as measured by state and local assessments
    • Increase effective use of STEM and project-based activities for students and staff
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Provide direct instruction to students through district outreach initiatives and programs
    • Develop program schedule to ensure every school has access to district provided resources, beginning with elementary schools.
    • Design, develop and implement effective STEM-based lessons that promote best practices in teaching, learning and assessment.
    • Manage and maintain modular and mobile district STEM equipment.
    • Lead or facilitate district-wide projects and programs that support the effective use of STEM in all schools, including district-wide robotics programs.
    • Conduct needs assessments to inform the content and delivery of STEM-related professional learning programs that result in a positive impact on student learning.
    • Evaluate results of professional learning programs to determine the effectiveness on deepening teacher content knowledge, improving teacher pedagogical skills and/or increasing student learning.
    • Contribute to the development, communication and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive use of STEM to support college and career readiness for all students.
    • Contribute to the planning, development, communication, implementation and evaluation of technology plans at the district and school levels.
    • Coach teachers and administrators in and model design and implementation of STEM-enhanced learning experiences for students:
      • Using a variety of research-based, learner-centered instructional strategies and assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all students.
      • Emphasizing creativity, higher-order thinking skills and processes .
      • Partner with classroom teachers to provide differentiation, including adjusting content, process, product and learning environment based on student readiness levels, learning styles, interests and personal goals
    • Coach teachers in and model use of online and blended learning, digital content, and collaborative learning networks to support, extend, and expand STEM learning opportunities and choices for students.
    • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to evaluate and select STEM tools and resources that enhance teaching and learning.
    • Model use of digital communication and collaboration tools to communicate locally and globally with students, parents, peers and the larger community.
    • Coordinate with community partners to support extended learning opportunities outside of normal school hours, including some weekends and during summer.
    • Demonstrates the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency
    • Maintain required records.
    • Maintains regular attendance
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
    • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
    • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations .
    • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
    • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's Degree,
    • 3 years successful K-12 teaching experience
    • Course work in educational technology (preferred)
    • Endorsement, Masters or Rank 1 in education technology or related field (preferred),
    • Demonstrated use of and understanding of STEM-based instruction and professional learning

    LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Kentucky Teaching Certificate.
