EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY
ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
EDGARTOWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MARTHA’S VINEYARD PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MASSACHUSETTS
The Superintendent of Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools invites highly-qualified candidates to apply for the position of Elementary/Middle School Principal of Edgartown Elementary School.
On the Island of Martha’s Vineyard, the Town of Edgartown is one of New England’s most picturesque, preserved seaport communities. Main Street is lined with the Greek Revival homes of former whaling captains. Edgartown has many beautiful and unspoiled beaches and offers many locations for bluefish and bass fishing among many other water sports.
The Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools (MVPS) consists of multiple, smaller school districts serving school-aged children, drawn from an aggregate population of approximately 15,000 full-time residents. MVPS is comprised of three K-8 elementary schools, each representing a corresponding town and district, one of which is the Edgartown School, serving 375 children in grades K-8.
The Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools seeks an elementary/middle school principal to lead the Edgartown Elementary School. The principal will be responsible for the instructional program, professional and support staff evaluations, budget development and implementation, as well as maintaining a visible presence with students, parents, and the broader community.
The successful candidate should possess strong leadership and communication skills. Classroom experience is desirable, and at least three years of experience as a school administrator is preferred. A valid Massachusetts license as a K-8 Principal and a master’s degree in Education or related field are required. Residence on or relocation to the Island of Martha’s Vineyard is strongly preferred, but negotiable. Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools offers a regionally competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Review of applications will begin on December 28, 2018. The expected start date for the new Principal is July 1, 2019.
