Salary Grade: $940 monthly/ $470 biweekly/ Stipend Pay

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To develop strategic communications with internal and external partners to increase community awareness and support of KCPS refugee and immigrant students and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to accurately reflect the essential job functions and responsibilities.
Identify, develop and maintain community partnerships; use social media to share relevant research, events, and information to increase community awareness; develop internal and external communication strategies and processes.
Identify, recruit and train community volunteers for various events.
Organize and maintain volunteer and community partner database.
Design and implement monthly department newsletter and updates.
Coordinate social media outlets and messaging (Facebook/Twitter).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BA or BS in Communications/English/Liberal Arts/Education or related field.
Desire to work with urban students and diverse families.
Experience in event planning, marketing, volunteering or community organization and/or social media.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in high incidence language (Spanish, Swahili, Somali, Burmese, Arabic)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds.
