Title: Curriculum Support Teacher

Description:

Assists teachers in translating the requirements, standards, and benchmarks into meaningful experiences for students in the school; Assists teachers in organizing and implementing the curriculum for all students; Serves as a coach, model, and trainer for best practices across the curriculum

Job Summary:
  • Meets with teachers to interpret and help implement the District curriculumAssists all teachers in organizing curriculum and utilizing effective teaching strategies at the request of the principalActs as advisor and special consultant to beginning teachersAdministers the initial screening and evaluation of students new to the school to ensure placement at the appropriate instructional levelParticipates in the selection of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and textbooksAssists in the planning of workshops and other professional learning programs for teachers, assistants, parents, and volunteers to help raise the level of student achievementAssists the principal in the evaluation of the instructional program, including interpreting assessment results and data analysis to help staff plan for instructionRecommends ways in which the curriculum may be adjusted to meet the special learning needs of studentsParticipates in District-wide activities such as curriculum writing, assessment development, and strategic planningPeriodically reviews instructionally-related state statutes and assists the principal in monitoring local school compliance and improvementsServes as a liaison between the local school and the curriculum departmentConsults with parents regarding the curriculum and student placement at the request of the principalAssists with the inventorying, ordering, and distribution of textbooks, equipment, and other District-level instructional resources, as requested by principalPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education/Experience:
Education:

  • Master's Degree required

Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years successful elementary teaching experience required

Certification/Licensure:
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood (P-5); Reading Specialist certification or Reading Endorsement preferred

Qualifications:
  • Knowledgeable of the District's overall curriculum goals and experience with techniques to assist teachers and staff in reaching those goalsKnowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groupsAbility to organize programs, personnel, and activities required for productive learning in the schoolInterpersonal skills needed to work effectively with administrators and staffAbility to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen, motivate, and provide leadership which results in the best environmentAbility to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issuesProven ability to make recommendations on various topics, detailed, controversial, simple, or complexAbility to develop, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiativesExcellent organizational skillsExcellent communication skills both orally and in writing

Salary Information:

Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience and education calculations from the Teacher Support Salary Schedule (190 Days)
