Full-Time Content Writer
Children's Literacy Initiative (CLI) is seeking a full-time Content Writer to work in ourPhiladelphia Office. We are looking fora passionate individual dedicated to ensuring that CLI remains innovative inour content/ training and a person that will thrive working with a smart,collaborative, and mission-drive team.
The Content Writer (or Content Developer) will develop andrevise content, as directed by the Manager of Content Development, for CLI's staff,coaches and teachers in order to provide the most impactful professionaldevelopment possible. We are currentlydeveloping a "blended model" for our workshops that combines in-personfacilitation with an engaging digital experience. Our coaching takes professional developmentto the classroom, where our coaches work in real-time to improve practice. The Content Writer (or Content Developer)will be involved in creating the best professional development for earlyliteracy. In addition, the ContentWriter (or Content Developer) may assist with training staff and Coaches on howto effectively present new content.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Manager of ContentDevelopment to develop content for a portfolio of markets.
  • Develop new content (resources and training) andrevise existing content to ensure CLI's professional development builds teacherearly literacy expertise in ways that accelerate student learning.
  • Assist with facilitation of professionaldevelopment.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of partnerdistricts literacy frameworks.
Education
Masters Degree required in English, Education, Literacy,Reading, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Experience Required
  • 3 years teaching pre-K - 5th gradeusing a balanced literacy approach.
  • 3 years experience coaching literacy.
  • Experience developing content for workshops andseminars.
Experience Preferred
  • Familiarity with writing conference proposalsand writing for publication.
  • Experience writing curriculum.
  • Knowledge of digital literacy and blendedlearning.
  • Teaching or coaching in 4th and 5thgrades.
Knowledge, Skills& Abilities
  • Strong attention to detail with very goodorganizational, multi-tasking and follow-through skills.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communicationskills.
  • Ability to work independently as well ascollaborate as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability torelate to the needs of diverse groups of learners (adults and children).
  • Ability to work on multiple project at a time.
