Children'sLiteracy Initiative seeks a Part-Time Content Editor to join a team deeply committed toproducing the highest quality literacy resources and trainings for teachers. Join a fast-paced team deeply committed to producing thehighest quality literacy trainings and resources for teachers. Under the supervisionof the Content Production and Editing Manager, the Content Production Editor reviewsand edits written material from the Content Development team and prepares contentfor teacher training events. This role includes:
  • Copy editing content for trainings to ensure quality and consistency
  • Formatting and design of training materials and presentations, including presentation slides and InDesign files
  • Delivery of completed training content, including a materials list, to the Content Production Associate
  • With the Content Production and Editing Manager, communication with Content Team and Projects Teams around content needs for individual events


Responsibilities

*1 Full knowledge and ownership ofCLI's "content prep" process
  • Receives final draft of content from Content Managers; edits, formats, designs, and coordinates with Production and Media Teams about specific materials needs; delivers finished training content to Content Production Associate for production
  • Ensures that electronic files are organized, accessible, and user-friendly
  • Ability to communicate with Content Managers and Regional Teams as needed to gather information for the editing process (i.e. keeping track of regionalization of content and version control, gathering information about specific event needs as it pertains to the editing of content (specific videos, handouts, etc.)
  • Responsible for thorough copy editing of all written materials
  • May occasionally assist with content production when needed. (Creating workbooks, anchor charts, etc.)
*2. Responsible for the visualdesign of CLI training materials under the direction of the Content Productionand Editing Manager
  • Uses the standard CLI templates to ensure consistency in the professional appearance of CLI content
  • Consistently uses and adds to the CLI Style Guide
  • With direction from Content Managers, selects photos and designs graphics for presentation slides
*3. Responsible for creating amaterials list for every piece of CLI content produced for an event
  • Creates comprehensive materials lists based on information within the content; materials list is then used by Content Production Associate to produce physical sets of training materials for events
  • When needed, coordinates with Development, Production, and Media teams around nonstandard or in-development materials to ensure readiness for an event (e.g. books on order, videos in production, etc.)
  • When needed, locates correct version of materials within internal database or within SHELF for use in training
*4. Reprioritizes workflow asnecessary to ensure timely delivery of finished content
  • Works closely with ContentProduction and Editing Manager to keep on top of shifting event dates andcontent needs
  • Updates and adheres to Content Prepschedule to ensure timely delivery of content to Production Associate and eventfacilitators
  • Communicates with Content Managersand Content Production Associate around any shifts in content due dates ortimelines


Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor'sdegree in English or Education. Must have strong writing, editing,organizational, and communication skills as well as familiarity withpresentation software such as PowerPoint. Ability to work independently and manage time efficientlywith limited supervision
Desired Skill Set:
  • Ability to adapt quickly and reprioritize workload as events are rescheduled and content needs shift
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with a strong work ethic and sense of ownership of the work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and follow-up skills are essential
  • Excellent computer skills, including high procifiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.),
  • Resourceful, with a positive, professional presence and attitude
  • Ability to work independently and successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign and Adobe Acrobat Pro
Knowledge, Skills& Abilities Required
Excellent PC, Word Processing, PowerPoint, and verbal andwritten communications skills. High level of organizational skills with abilityto innovate new procedures, prioritize work assignments, multi-task and followthrough on a timely basis. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills. Interface diplomatically with alllevels of internal and external contacts.
Machines/EquipmentExperience
PC and peripheral equipment, copier, laminator, projector,and related office equipment.
Physical / CognitiveRequirements
Theemployee is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wristflexibility, for computer keyboarding.The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time,stand, walk, climb stairs, and reach into files with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to write,hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations, andcommunicate with people in an office environment. The employee is occasionally required to sitand stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. Theemployee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by thisjob include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. The employee is required to have effectiveverbal and written communication skills needed to effectively and persuasivelycommunicate and interact with internal and external customers. The employee is required to have exceptionalorganizational skills, an ability to adapt to changing workload, as well as anability to prioritize duties and projects and meet deadlines.
