    Location: Districtwide - Harborview TCLL Program
    Full Time Position (1.0 FTE) 210 Days

    Summary: The Tlingit Language Project Manager for the grant project Sustaining Language, Strengthening Community Partnership with the JSD TCLL program. The manager will coordinate implementation of all grant activities and logistical support in Harborview School. The Manager will facilitate communication, arrange trainings and meetings with Elders and cultural specialists, arrange meetings with staff, site council, administrators, Juneau School Board, and meetings between JSD and Sealaska Heritage Institute staff. The Manager will also collect student and teacher data for evaluation and reporting, and be the main contact point for the project within TCLL and Harborview.

    Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Knowledge of curriculum and curriculum development.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of adults (i.e. teachers, supervisors, Elders, community partners).

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Masters degree preferred.
    • Experience teaching multi-sensory or promising practices in second language learning.
    • Experience speaking and teaching Tlingit language.

    • Provide the Sustaining Language, Strengthening Community Project with daily oversight and management
    • Revise and expand the 2008 Tlingit Scope and Sequence Draft to guide instruction in grades K-5 and 27 standards-based integrated units; produce language support resources
    • Extend Tlingit Scope and Sequence Draft to grade 12 in collaboration with Tlingit language instructors at secondary and university levels
    • Partnering with TCLL teachers, help recruit, select, and facilitate transportation for Elders who will participate in Tlingit language instruction. Facilitate scheduling and logistics for certified teachers fluent in Tlingit to co-teach in Tlingit.
    • Work with the external evaluator to collect relevant and necessary data
    • Organize and facilitate school and community meetings about changes to the TCLL program
    • Prepare and revise reports and documents intended for presentation to the Board of Education
    • Contribute news and informative articles about Project activities for the Juneau School District website and Haborview newsletter, as appropriate
    • Provide SHI with the bi-annual bulletins prepared and submitted by the Project's external evaluator
    • Ensure the curriculum units are developed and on schedule
    • Work with the project director and to provide reporting requirements
    • Communicate regularly with Harborview principal to meet the objectives of the grant

    Selected hire will be fingerprinted at applicant's expense and fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a criminal background check.

    Compensation: This job class is a 210-day contract position where the employee's assigned work year varies but no less than 210 days in any fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) Classified Exempt Salary Schedule Range K - salary placement will be determined upon the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
