This relatively new school (which opened in January 2015) is located in Guangzhou, in southern China, two hours by train to Hong Kong. They opened initially with just an Early Years and Primary section but due to rapid expansion are now moving up into the middle years and will soon expand to include upper secondary as well. The school delivers a bilingual programme for local and foreign children, with a 60:40 split (English: Chinese) in the Early Years and Primary Programme. Each foreign teacher has a Chinese Teacher and a Teaching Assistant attached to his/her class. The Foreign Teacher will be the lead teacher. The school is looking for a strong Principal to start February 2019 or no later than June 2019. They will be a three-programme IB school, delivering a bilingual Chinese-English programme. Their PYP verification visit is next May and MYP and DP will follow within 12 months. The school is 18 months old and has a very healthy growth trajectory with 300 students at the moment.

The Head of School reports to the School Board. Responsibilities include the following:
Performs as leader/mentor/facilitator
Performs as educational leader of the school
Serves as chief executive officer of the School
Oversees staff personnel management
Oversees facilities management
Oversees operational budget
Directs community relations activities
Directs community relations activities

Suitable candidates are expected to possess following capabilities:

•Ability in formulating meaningful goals that capitalize on the strengths and are of significant value to the school;

•A love of teaching and of being with elementary and secondary students;

•A proven record of outstanding leadership ability in an educational setting;

•Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with highly diverse and multicultural school community;

•An abundance of charisma, energy, stamina, drive, vision, perseverance, initiative and imagination, combined with a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility;

•The ability to delegate effectively, and the wisdom to determine who needs follow-up supervision and who does not;

•Outstanding communication skills, including excellent public speaking ability and strong writing skills;

•Ability to establish budgetary priorities and to operate strictly within the approved budget.

Qualifications:
1. Appropriate certification in Educational Administration desirable;
2. At least 10 years of Principal experience in a British or American Top 50 School

Preferred qualifications of the Head of School include the following:

• Minimum 5 years experience as Head of a K-12 International School

• Teaching experience;

• Experience with strategic planning;

• Proven track record of problem solving and team management;

• Well-developed skills in budgeting and finance;

• Overseas experience;

• Experience in human resource management and recruitment;

• Familiarity with bilingual, second language learning and mother tongue programmes;

• The ability to recruit and retain highly qualified teachers.

Preferred personal attributes

• Strong leadership skills and an ability to inspire others;

• Strong personal philosophy on education;

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

The school is located in Southern China in Guangzhou, the largest city in the Guangdong province.
