Systems Engineer

About this role....

NWEA is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Operations team. We need an individual that has experience in a 24x7 high availability production environment, managing both windows and Linux OS environments. They will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and evolving NWEA's product operations infrastructure, ensuring that all client-based systems and data are operational and available.

For technical skills, this person must have experience with VMware ESX clusters, AWS/Azure familiarity, and an proficiency with automation/scripting (PowerShell preferred, Ruby/Python will be considered). Big pluses would be an individual that has hands on experience with puppet/chef, F5 load balancing, and some sort of enterprise backup solutions experience.

Must haves...

  • Experience in 24x7 high availability production/sustaining processes, including "lights out" support and remote administration
  • Experience with installation, and configuration of VMware ESX Clusters
  • Enterprise SAN Administration
  • Experience in both Linux and Microsoft OS environments
  • A utomation/scripting experience ( Powershell is preferred)
  • Familiarity with AWS/Azure

Education and Experience...

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 3 years rel ated experience, with at least 2 years' experience in VMware ESX and Enterprise storage (VMware VCP preferred)
  • Experience with Puppet Automation a plus
