The High Ability Teacher will work in a team-oriented environment to carry out the goals of the High Ability program by providing data-driven instruction in Math and/or Reading identified high ability students in a 1:1 or small group setting. The High Ability Teacher will monitor data, communicate progress and collaborate with administration, teachers, students, and learning coaches. The High Ability Teacher will also provide support in special projects by the direction of the High Ability Coordinator, which may require occasional travel.

AS A HIGH ABILITY TEACHER, YOU WILL...
  • Uses data to develop and teach differentiated Math and/or ELA enrichment lessons for K-8 high ability students.
  • Maintains documentation of high ability students.
  • Communicates information/progress with parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Meets and collaborates regularly with teachers, counselors, and administrators to best meet the needs of high ability students.
  • Assists the High Ability Coordinator in administering high ability identification testing as needed.
  • Assists the High Ability Coordinator in facilitating targeted professional development for staff on supporting the growth of advanced learners.
  • Conducts parent workshops each semester.
  • Supports families with questions about high ability identification and programming.
  • Attends weekly staff meetings to share data and feedback about high ability.
  • Uses instructional coaching strategies to support teacher effectiveness in best instructional practices.
  • Collaborates with the High Ability Coordinator on curriculum strategy recommendations for high ability students.
  • Attends Broad-Based Planning Committee Meetings.
  • Attends High Ability workshops as needed.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning. Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Current Indiana teaching license in Math. Reading or English teaching license is a plus.
  • High Ability license or will have High Ability license within the School Year.
  • Has 1+ year of teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools).

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time for meetings, professional development, testing, etc.
  • Ability to pass background check requirements

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in a virtual school
