POSITION SUMMARY
The Atlanta Board of Education seeks a collaborative and engaging leader to serve as a lynchpin between a wide variety of stakeholders in Atlanta and the Board, increase transparency for APS consumers, and serve as an internal advocate for the needs of APS parents and students, with the ultimate goal of accomplishing the Atlanta Public School mission, "With a caring culture of trust and collaboration, every student will graduate ready for college and career."
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in community and parental advocacy, have comfort navigating channels of state and local governments, experience building relationships across lines of differences, thrive in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment, and be a proven self-starter.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Manages systems for APS community members to access district resources designed to assist students and families.
• Supports the Executive Administrator in designing and implementing effective, comprehensive public information strategies to proactively engage external audiences.
• Assists Board Members and the Executive Administrator in planning, coordinating community relations services, programs, and events to promote community goodwill in support of Atlanta Public Schools.
• Develops and maintains relationships with community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and advocacy groups, and all other stakeholders.
• Serves as the contact person for community members navigating APS systems.
• Ensures that operations with the Board office are carried out with the highest level of quality.
• Delivers administrative support to the Board office and individual board members are assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated.

Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
� Bachelor?s degree in education, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
� N/A.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
� 2 years of successful experience with community advocacy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
� General knowledge of school finance, budgeting, and fiscal process.
� Knowledge of evaluation systems, techniques and instruments, their purpose, appropriate application and interpretation of results.
� Critical thinking skills.
� Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and with different audiences.
� Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with staff, business associates, and general community.
� Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues.
� Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information and materials.
� Utilize and train in the use of technology to make work more efficient and productive.
� Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities.

Compensation:
GRADE: 126
WORK DAYS: Annual
SALARY: $51, 631 - $73, 997
