John Lewis Invictus Academy is actively looking for an enthusiastic Band teacher with experience working and preparing urban scholars for overall success.
John Lewis Invictus Academy will educate 6 th and 7 th graders only for the 2018-2019 academic year. Also, we are actively progressing toward a paperless learning organization, therefore all candidates must be comfortable and coachable to incorporate 21 st century skills within instructional delivery.

Responsible for imparting knowledge and skills to middle students. The candidate will utilize research-based theories and strategies to teach, organize, and implement structured lessons for technology education (engineering). This position reports to the principal.
Instructs students through effective differentiated teaching methods to ensure comprehension and mastery of content.
Prepares engaging and challenging lessons.
Attends faculty meetings and professional learning sessions (GACTE Summer Conference, Cluster Drive-ins sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education, APS Professional Development, etc.).
Maintains and operates an active Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO).
Administers and/or supports the state and local standardized testing processes and policies.
Administers various types of assessments to monitor student's comprehension of content.
Enhances course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.
Works collaboratively with Middle/High School teachers to vertical align curriculum and best practices, where applicable.
Effectively manages the learning environment, so that it is conducive to learning.
Maintains and monitors an effective learning environment free of hazard, ridicule, and prejudice.
Assists with student management throughout the building, grounds and/or other district facilities.
Coordinates parent/teacher and student/teacher conferences to review student performance, behavior, and other issues.
Effectively communicates with students, parents, and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication.
Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, breaches of ethics, or any criminal activity of which the employee becomes aware.
Performs other duties as assigned by principal, immediate supervisor, and district-level administration.

Requirements: CERTIFICATION:
Minimum of SRT4-Certification in Band (P-12)

EDUCATION:
Hold a Bachelor's Degree or higher fro a GAPSC-accepted accredited institution with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

EXPERIENCE:
Zero (0) years of teaching experience.

Compensation:
Hourly Rate: 29.25 hour
May work up to 29 hours a week

FLSA Status: Exempt
