We are the 2nd largest leader in for-profit education. The Novi headquarters is looking to add a Staff Accountant to our team. This position is responsible for many of the standard general ledger accounting functions that are required for period end, quarter end, and year end closes. The duties require the strict deadlines must be met with respect to bank reporting and internal management reporting.

Responsibilities:
  • Calculate and record various standard monthly, bi-weekly and weekly journal entries using Peoplesoft General Ledger and account reconciliations.
  • Reconcile standard balance sheet accounts at period-end including various current and non-current assets and accrued liabilities. Prepare period end reconciliations, review for reasonableness and provide draft to supervisor for review .
  • Review and analyze period-end fluctuations in assigned income statement and/or balance sheet accounts including variances to previous months, budget or outlook.
  • Review and respond timely to all requests from vendors, internal and/or external customers, and ensure communication is clear and follow-up is delivered.
  • Prepare and review various month end reports and assist in review of Peoplesoft generated reports for distribution.
  • Prepare necessary schedules for the year-end external audit and quarterly reviews as assigned by management.
  • Assist on all projects as required by the Accounting Managers, Assistant Controller, Controller or CFO.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred with a major in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting or in a corporate accounting position.
  • Previous experience with financial statements preferred.
  • Experience with operating and capital lease obligations is a plus.
  • High degree of knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Peoplesoft Finance, Asset Management and nVision experience a plus.
  • Ability to meet strict guidelines.
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
