Superintendent of Schools - Bismarck School District No. 1

Bismarck Public Schools seeks an individual with visionary leadership and strong administrative skills to lead a district of 13,000 students beginning July 1, 2019. Bismarck is the capital city of North Dakota. It's centrally located in the state and is bordered on the west by the scenic Missouri River. Bismarck is an economically diverse, fast growing and dynamic community. The Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Statistical Area for 2016 shows a population of more than 125,000.

Bismarck is the largest school district in the state, with 13,039 students in 2018 and more than 2,100 employees. The district has over 500 classrooms in 16 grade schools, 3 middle schools, 3 senior high schools, an alternative high school, a Career Academy and Technical Center, and an early childhood program.

The salary will be in the range of $190,000 -$240,000 plus include competitive benefits package. The final salary for the successful candidate will be negotiated and determined based upon proven experience, qualifications and meeting Board criteria.

Required Qualifications

• Candidates must currently possess or can provide proof of qualifying for a North Dakota School Administrators Credential as outlined in the North Dakota Administrative Rules, Section 67-11-07, Superintendent Credential
• Successful classroom teaching experience
• Successful administrative experience in a school setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a school superintendent
• A doctorate in educational leadership or related field

• January 14, 2019: Finalists identified, interviews scheduled
• January 28, 2019: Superintendent named
• July 1, 2019: New superintendent starts
