    The Scarsdale Schools' Technical Services team is seeking a talented, experienced, and innovative candidate for a Network Specialist position. The Technical Services team is part of the Information Technology department. The team manages the District's network infrastructure, servers, phone system, and computer hardware. The team works closely with the Data Services team as well as with computer teachers to deliver technology solutions to students, faculty and staff in all seven, school buildings. The incumbent will be working in close collaboration with colleagues to support, maintain, and upgrade the District's technology.

    Under general supervision, the Network Specialist configures, installs, and maintains computer equipment, mobile devices, and peripherals, as well as installs and maintains wired and wireless network components. The incumbent is expected to exercise independent judgment. The incumbent may be required to respond to service calls from buildings throughout the school district. Does related work as required.

    Work Examples:
    • Installs and configures hardware and software, including servers, workstations, mobile devices, and peripherals
    • Installs and configures network components including hubs, switches, bridges, routers, and VPN devices
    • Installs, configures, and administers operating systems
    • Maintains and monitors backups
    • Performs analysis, diagnoses, and resolves complex computer problems, and recommends and implements corrective solutions
    • Troubleshoots network, hardware, and software conflicts and problems
    • Builds computer and mobile device images and deploys them
    • Installs upgrades and patches on servers
    • Evaluates, recommends, and specifies technology solutions
    • Recommends, schedules, and performs technology improvements and upgrades
    • Assists with inventory and delivery of computer hardware
    • Receives and responds to support tickets, calls, and/or e-mails regarding problems with computers, peripheral equipment, and/or phones
    • Maintains documentation of network, hardware, and software configuration
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and conducts research on operating systems, hardware, networks, and educational technology

    The following skills are required:
    • Knowledge of Mac OS, iOS, and Windows operating system preferred
    • Knowledge of Mac OS Server preferred
    • Knowledge of Apple School Manager, VPP, and DEP preferred
    • Knowledge of Jamf Pro, Lightspeed Systems, and Intune MDM preferred
    • Knowledge of HP and Aruba network components preferred
    • Knowledge of IP telephony preferred
    • Experience with network content filtering preferred
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving skills and strategic thinking skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize workload
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to manage projects independently
    • Ability to lift equipment in excess of 60 pounds preferred
    • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Self-starter with ability to anticipate business needs and offer proactive recommendations
    • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
    • Knowledge of public schools and their systems preferred
