Job Description
JOB GOAL:
1. Para-educator services are required to support students with disabilities and facilitate educational goals, climate and activities in an elementary school.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. This para-educator will work under the direction of a special education teacher and school based personnel to meet the goals and objectives of students' IEPs in a substantially separate education setting
2. Services may include:
a. a focus on academic support
b. behavioral support
c. sensory support
d. communications facilitation
e. transitions among school settings
f. addressing health
g. hygiene and safety needs
h. guiding the development of social and emotional skills with individuals or group of students
3. May be asked to review student IEPs with teachers on a regular basis and employ universal precautions related to health and hygiene
j. Physical lifting of student is necessary for hygiene and body positioning changes

Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must by Highly qualified as defined by the NCLB Act.
- Minimum of 48 college credits; or Passed the Para Pro test
2. Experience working with children in an educational setting
3. Experience with and/or the ability to become CPI trained if necessary
4. Experience working with children with Special Education services
