Position Overview
A Whittle School & Studios' graduate is an independent thinker and a compassionate, humble, lifelong learner who desires to contribute to the world. Our emphasis on project- and place-based learning encourages students to weave connections among the artistic, academic, social, and emotional threads of their learning. Part of a passionate and exceptional professional community, the Visual Arts Teacher will employ interdisciplinary content to facilitate learning that integrates well with aspects of ourperforming arts and music program (an example being a keyboard recital with dancers and multi-media art integrated into the performance). The Visual Arts teacher should have experience with drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, photography, mixed media art (both digital and non-digital), and film. Additionally, this teacher will:

• genuinely enjoy the company of adolescents
• be passionate about developing a relationship and sense of trust with each student
• seek to engage with students both in the classroom and the greater Whittle community in a variety of ways outside the classroom

Qualifications and Attributes

The following are highly desirable qualifications for the listed position:

• Bachelor's degree BA/BS in specific field or post graduate work in subject matter required
• Master's level degree or above in content area preferred
• Linguistic proficiency in Mandarin Chinese highly desirable
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an independent school environment
• Participates in professional learning communities, grade-level teams, and other collaborative communities to design and plan instructions, to improve practice, and to achieve student outcomes
• Drive and energy to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
