Provides a continuum of psychological services that support children/students ages 2 through 6, as well as district, departmental, and staff programs and initiatives; Administers comprehensive psychological assessments for children between the ages of 2 and 6 who are suspected of having developmental delays and/or autism spectrum disorders; Responsibilities may include counseling, consultation with parents, teachers, counselors, social workers, special education providers, administrative staff, and outside agencies such as private professionals and the court system, as well as assessment, program planning, direct or supervised intervention.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Administers comprehensive psychological assessments for children between the ages of 2 and 6 who are suspected of having developmental delays and/or autism spectrum disorders.
  • Uses best practices to aid in the early identification of students with disabilities and communicates this information to parents and teams in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Proficiency in administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide variety of psychological and psychometric instruments
  • Must have a thorough understanding of child development, special education, classroom dynamics and instructional strategies
  • Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analyzes and synthesizes data to prepare written reports to include diagnostic recommendations.
  • Consults with teachers, parents, administrators, student support teams, and students to improve students' success in school.
  • Makes recommendations to assist with planning and implementation of prescriptive programs.
  • Provides student counseling as necessary.
  • Functions as member of district Crisis Intervention Teams during local and national crises.
  • Assists in ensuring that decisions concerning special education services for students are made in a fair manner that ensures due process, confidentiality of records, protection in evaluation procedures, protection of the student's right to an appropriate education, and an individualized education program (IEP).
  • Reviews students' permanent records, developmental history, adaptive behavioral information, observational notes, diagnostic testing and data provided by outside agencies or sources.
  • Integrates, analyzes and synthesizes data to determine what strategies might be appropriate in meeting the needs of individual students.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant research.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities


Requirements: EDUCATION:
  • Master?s Degree in School Psychology from an accredited university required.
  • Specialist?s Degree (or higher) in School Psychology from an accredited university preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
  • Georgia S-5 Certification in School Psychology is required.
  • Georgia S-6 or S-7 Certification in School Psychology is preferred
  • Valid driving license and availability of private transportation during the school day is required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 1 year of professional school psychology experience in a K-12 educational setting (includes internship).
  • Prior experience providing psychological assessment and counseling to students in a public school setting.
  • Experience providing initial autism evaluations with the ADOS-2 and other evaluation tools is highly preferred.


Compensation: SALARY GRADE: IS5-IS6
SALARY RANGE: $50, 471-$87, 220
WORK DAYS: 211
