This is NOT a virtual position. This position will work 20 hours a week out of the Exton, PA Office.

The Nurse provides preventive health services to support the education process by working to assure the health of students in a manner that promotes optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development. The nurse identifies problems and disabilities and provides such services as case finding, health education, referring and care in order to help prevent serious health problems which could later be more difficult and costly to address
AS A NURSE, YOU WILL..
  • Promotes and protects the optimal health status of all students
  • Develop policies, procedures and work standards for the school health program
  • Monitor compliance of the school health program with federal, State and local laws, regulations and policies
  • Initiate program changes
  • Prepare health reports for Supervisor
  • Collaborate with other child-support agencies in designing and providing a school health program
  • Serve as a resource person on health issues
  • Provide staff development on health-related topics for school staff and volunteers
  • Screen and conduct health appraisals for students and staff
  • Provide follow-up evaluations on students
  • Recommend corrective action when problems are identified
  • Correspond with parents on health needs of children
  • Record immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data
  • Adhere to requirements for confidentiality regarding student records
  • Participates in home visits to assess the family needs as related to the child's health;
  • Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases;
  • Coordinates school and community health activities and serves as a liaison health professional between the home, school and community;
  • Acts as a resource person in promoting health careers;
  • Engages in research and evaluation of school health services to act as a change agent for school health programs and school nursing practices;
  • Provides consultation in the formation of health policies, goals and objectives for the school district;
  • Where applicable, participates in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development.

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified School Nurse-licensed and certified in Pennsylvania
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education required clearances
  • Working knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State , and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
  • Some knowledge of the school organization and the community served
  • Ability to identify abnormal growth and development and symptoms of disease
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and other community resources
  • Ability to develop and maintain student health records
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    Certificates and Licenses:Certified School Nurse - PA
Other Required Qualifications
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check
