Position Purpose
The Proviso Township High School District 209 is looking for a highly motivated, driven, and committed professional who is interested in serving as a science teacher for students whose first language is not English. This is an exciting opportunity for a certified science teacher to teach science AND earn an Illinois EL endorsement at no cost! This position does NOT require experience or knowledge of world languages or language instruction. In order to best serve EL students, the District has committed to professionally developing content area teachers, through EL endorsement certification, in partnership with Dominican University. This teaching assignment will require coursework and study beyond daily teaching duties and calendar through flexible, blended graduate-level courses, paid for by the District, that result in EL certification (and within 6 credits of a Master's Degree).

Requirements

• Possess or be eligible to possess a valid and registered Illinois Professional Educator LicenseGeneral sciences endorsementRecent teaching experience in the subject matter (student teaching qualifies)Ability to integrate technology in the learning environmentAbility to personalize learning for a wide range of learnersParticipation in the District collegial study cohort (paid for by the District) to attain Illinois EL endorsement

Preferred

• Endorsements in chemistry, physics, earth science, biologyKnowledge of and/or experience with Competency-based EducationKnowledge of and/or experience with Career Academies structure and learningMultiple endorsements in mathematics and other content areas
