ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a Special Education/ELL teacher to work with our Early Childhood students in PreK and Kindergarten. All teaching positions are full-time, salaried, 10-month positions.

Special Education/ELL Teachers at Meridian are responsible for the following:

• Collaborating with colleagues to develop and deliver specialized instruction in the classroom designed to help students meet grade-level standards, language development milestones, and achieve personal learning goals
• Utilizing strong content knowledge to effectively present enticing and rigorous Common Core-aligned lessons
• Developing Individualized Learning Plans (IEPs) for students on assigned caseload
• Ensuring the records for each identified student are up to date and well-organized, and contain necessary progress notes and assessments
• Supporting oversight and delivery of ACCESS administration
• Modifying assessments and classwork for students with special needs
• Administering and developing subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing IEPs
• Tracking and monitoring assessment results in order to regularly refine teaching practices and design differentiated lesson plans
• Assessing student progress against IEP goals, learning targets, objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.

• Communicating with families regarding service delivery, student progress, and recommend ways families can support student at home
• Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team as appropriate
• Participate in ELL student's transition meetings for those ready to transition out of ELL services
• Establishing and implementing effective classroom management procedures, and maintain a productive, safe, and focused learning environment

QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates will have the following education and experience:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required. Master's degree preferred
• Bilingual Spanish/English (strongly preferred)
• Two or more years of teaching experience as an elementary or middle school teacher in an urban environment preferred
• Experience with co-teaching models, writing and monitoring IEPs, and ELL strategies preferred
