FEBRUARY ACCELERATION ACADEMY ACADEMIC TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview: Plan and deliver academic instruction to students, with set grade-specific academic standards and curricula in place, during 4-day vacation program, February 19-22, 2019. Work with Site Coordinator to execute Acceleration Academy goals set by BPS academic and professional learning leaders and school principal.
Duties:
Training and Planning
  • Develop lesson plans in collaboration with site team, aligned with student and academy goals.
  • Submit pre-program deliverables.
  • Prepare classroom space.

Instruction and Classroom Management
  • Deliver academic instruction to students, aligned with district and school-based Acceleration Academy goals.
  • Coordinate with City Year corps members.
  • Enforce student discipline code.

Collaboration and Evaluation
  • Work with site coordinator and enrichment teachers to gather student level data and compile student progress reports/assessments.
  • Submit end of program deliverables
  • Participate in mandatory feedback/debrief activities
Schedule:
Pre-Academy: Pre-planning with academy team, submission of pre-program deliverables.

During Academy: Teachers required to be on site 30 minutes prior to program start time and 30 minutes after program end time (February 19-22). Program start and end times vary by school 7:30am-1:30pm or 9:00am-3:00pm, to be confirmed by February 1.
Post-Academy: "Wrap-up" duties (such as student progress reports, artifact collection, materials inventory, feedback) occur at the end of Academy programming.
Stipend Rate: $2000 - includes pre-academy planning, & post-academy wrap up and vacation week programming (28 hrs).
Role, HR & Payment: Position executes duties in collaboration with Acceleration Academy Site Coordinator, school principal and BPS Central. Position reports to Acceleration Academy site coordinator.

Teacher candidates should apply via Talent Ed. Job compliance and HR/payment overseen by Stephanie Philippe of BPS Office of Expanded Learning Time. Qualifications:
  • Certified teacher (ELA or Math expertise preferred).
  • At least 1 year of formal teaching experience.
  • Preferred: School year position in Acceleration Academy host site.
