TITLE: English Language Learners Academy (ELL) Parent Facilitator

REPORTS TO: Kelley Gangi - Chief of Instructional Improvement

WORK SCHEDULE:

Academy will be held from 9:30AM to 2:30PM on the following dates: November 3rd, November 10th, November 17th, December 1st, December 8th, December 15th, January 5th and January 12th.

COMPENSATION: HOURLY RATE

OVERVIEW: The ELL Academy will engage 75-100+ English Language Learners, ranging from Levels 1-4 in language proficiency, from across the SEZP in an eight-part blended learning model based on the success of the Middlebury Interactive Languages and Hartford Public Schools partnership for supplemental EL support.

DUTIES:

Attend 8 Saturday ELL Academy sessions from 9:00-2:30

Communicate with attending student families prior to each session to ensure attendance and to engage families in the learning and enrichment opportunities that will take place

Communicate with families throughout the academy to share details about key events

Support select students (based on native language) in their classrooms to promote engagement and access to learning materials and enrichment opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to collaborate with administrators, teachers and parents;

Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills;

Excellent organizational and time management skills; flexible and reliable;

Bilingual highly desirable.
