Essential Functions and Objectives:

Works under the direction of the Supervisor of Nursing Services as a screening technician to provide vision, hearing, height and weight screening for students ECE through grade 12.

- Conduct physical examinations on students using vision, hearing, height and weight screening procedures.

- Record findings on individual student health records and make lists of students that need additional attention on Follow-Through Reports.

- Screen students at selected levels, utilizing equipment and materials provided by Nursing Services.

- Compile findings, complete appropriate documentation and provide input into the establishment of the District's annual screening schedule.

- Act as a liaison to school nurses, school audiologists and the Nursing Supervisor for health resources on vision, hearing, height, weight and related health service issues.

- Dental, immunization, and asthma screenings.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- One (1) year experience as a health services technician.

- Some experience in a school environment working with lower age children preferred.

- Crossed-trained in all vision, hearing, height and weight screening procedures.

- Skills communicating both orally and in writing.

- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

- Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred

- Appropriate certifications to administer the various screening tests conducted by the employee preferred.

- Must carry appropriate insurance to include damage/theft coverage of DPS screening equipment.

- Valid Colorado Driver's License, appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record for the past three years.

- Knowledge of appropriate health screening procedures.

- Ability to interact positively and caringly with school aged children.

- Ability to maintain accurate health records and maintain confidentiality.

- Ability to interact positively with health service staff, teachers and others.

E ducation Requirements:

- High School Diploma or GED.
