Open Rank Faculty Position, Curriculum and Education

The Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position in the in the Curry School of Education and Human Development's nationally ranked Curriculum and Instruction program. The highly qualified faculty member will be responsible for program coordination which includes: curriculum mapping and updates; dissemination of program information, program creation and maintenance; admissions, advising and contact with students; collaborating with administrators to schedule courses and staff classes. The incumbent also maintains accurate records of individual and program-level assessments to contribute to appropriate accreditation processes and works with administrators to develop recruiting plans to ensure a highly qualified, diverse pool of students. Duties also include teaching online graduate courses with an emphasis on: curriculum, instruction, assessment; principles of curriculum; models of instruction; curriculum design; diversity and culturally relevant pedagogy; and differentiated instruction. The incumbent joins a highly collaborative faculty and will work with colleagues throughout the Curry School and across the University. Rank is dependent upon qualifications.

Applicants must have completed a doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction or related area prior to the start date of this position. At least one semester of experience teaching at the university level, at least three years K-12 classroom teaching experience, and online teaching experience are required. Applicants must possess knowledge about the education of learners in a school setting as well as knowledge of teaching, learning, and approaches and methods for differentiating instruction. Applicants must have extensive knowledge of the principles of curriculum design, theories of curriculum, and models of instruction. Knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogy appropriate for academically diverse learners is essential. Preference will be given to applicants with experience developing and designing curricula and with expertise in diverse instructional pedagogies and assessments. The ability to use technology in innovative ways to enhance instruction and to teach online and to generate assessment information is also referred. Proven record of collaboration with diverse groups of students and faculty preferred.
