Quality Assurance Project Manager Role

This position reports to the District Director of Pupil Personnel Services at a midsize urban school district located in the Capital region of Upstate New York. The Quality Assurance Project Manager will assist with project management and workflow of various Pupil Personnel Services areas. The Quality Assurance Project Manager is expected to implement innovative project and time management strategies that enable the District Director of Pupil Personnel Services to continue to improve equity, engagement and efficiency in all areas of Pupil Personnel Services. The Quality Assurance Project Manager ensures compliance priorities are achieved daily, and that long-term requests are monitored and acted upon. The Quality Assurance Project Manager will understand how to apply special education law. This position requires a high degree of trust, organization, and dependability.

Quality Assurance Project Manager Expectations

Leadership and Management
  • Provides supervision for CSE secretaries and assigns additional work responsibilities to administrative support staff as needed;
  • Leads project committee work as assigned by the Director of PPS;
  • Assists with the coordination of new teacher onboarding and training in the PPS areas.


Collaborative Working Relationships
  • Supports Director of Special Education to ensure compliance with NYSED reporting for Special Education;
  • Works with Assistant Director for Accountability and Assistant Director of PPS to gather data necessary for NY State Education reports and Data Warehouse;
  • Establishes role as District Liaison to BOCES with respect to staff training, preparation and verification of the NYS Alternate Assessment portfolios for collegial review and submission to BOCES for scoring.

Managing New and Existing Compliance Priorities
  • Assist with oversight of Special Education intake, and review process to ensure that the district complies with Federal and State laws. This may encompass returning incomplete/inappropriate intake or review requests to building staff and ensuring further disposition;
  • Is responsible for supporting the implementation of policies and procedures in compliance with the Part 200's and federal law;
  • Collaborates with the office of PPS and the Office of Planning & Accountability to provide support and oversight to the Medicaid billing process;

Technology Management
  • Assist with oversight of software programs used in Special Education such as IEP Direct, Unique Learning, EDoctrina, Read 180 & System 44. This includes running usage reports, providing professional development, Keeping licenses current, technical support, and system updates;
  • Inventorying & distribution of Assistive Technology Software and devices.

  • Intuitive with the ability to be anticipatory and understand the needs of the Pupil Personnel Services department;

  • Possesses a resourcefulness to accomplish any task, no matter how big or small;
  • Understands the importance of discretion and the need for honesty and fidelity;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Desires to exceed expectations to achieve excellence on all tasks;
  • Excellent knowledge of office systems, technology and Microsoft office products.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Business, Human Services, Education, Computer Science or Law;
  • 4-year Degree Preferred;
  • Knowledge of Special Education Laws & Procedures;
  • Excellent Computer skills;
  • Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills;
  • Some Management Experience Preferred.
