    Qualifications: *Current Kansas Teaching Certificate with endorsement appropriate to the assignment on file in the Devin Center
    *Health certificate on file in Devin Center
    *Highly Qualified according to state of Kansas requirements

    Reports To: Building and Academy Principal

    Supervises: Students

    BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE

    The Math instructor provides effective curriculum instruction that promotes and supports college and career readiness for each student based on the Kansas College and Career Readiness Standards. The individual accepting this position will also work collaboratively within the Math Department in support of the Department's goals and objectives. The teacher will also regularly use diagnostic math screeners to monitor student's math progress to inform instruction and implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. (MTSS)

    The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Instruct and direct Math content classrooms, which include, but are not limited to Algebra, Algebra II, Geometry and multiple math elective offerings.
    2. Responsible for the organization and implementation of Math curriculum, based on the development of content "Units at a Glance," as approved at the building and district level(s).
    3. Submit required reports in a timely manner, participate in staff, department, committee, and team meetings.
    4. Obtain instructional resources and materials through processes outlined by the Principal and/or the Director of Teaching & Learning.
    5. Keep informed regarding new technologies and research-based teaching practices that facilitate and support student learning.
    6. Support the vision and mission of JCHS, a Career Academy High School; and work to develop and sustain the climate and culture of the academy model.
    7. Participate as a team member with the department, academy and both licensed and non-licensed staff in a comprehensive evaluation, review, and re-evaluation process.
    8. Be knowledgeable in the JCHS Strategic and School Improvement Plan with a focused effort of implementation with fidelity and purpose.
    9. Communicate clearly and accurately with administrators, staff, parents, students and support agencies.
    10. Be an active member of the professional learning community: student, committee and academy meetings, as well as assist in early recognition and prevention of educational problems.
    11. Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state, and federal laws.
    12. Attend/assist with school events; supervise students in all activities related to classroom and student publications
    13. Strive to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in word and deed.
    14. Uphold and enforce Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, and federal and state regulations including but not limited to
    Consolidated Plan for Federal Programs
    Acceptable use of technology
    Sexual and racial harassment
    Child abuse reporting
    1. Perform other duties assigned by the principal or other building or district administrators.
    Term of Employment: Teacher Contract

    Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.

    Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with state regulations and the terms established in the negotiated agreement.
