About UP Education Network
UP Education Network manages and operates six schools in Boston, Lawrence, and Springfield, MA. We serve over 3,000 elementary and middle school students. UP is invited by local school districts to restart chronically underperforming district schools as UP Academies. Each UP Academy shares the same mission: to ensure that students acquire the knowledge, skills, and strength of character necessary to succeed on the path to college and to achieve their full potential.
Role
The Director of Operations will co-lead the school alongside the school's Principal. Both DOO and Principal oversee the school's leadership team and are charged with ensuring the effective management of the UP EducationNetwork school model.
Specific Responsibilities
• Manage all systems within the school, including but not limited to arrival and dismissal procedures; breakfast, lunch, and snack distribution; uniform dispersal; student enrollment; and coverage forabsent staff members
• Manage and oversee the school facility
• Manage the school budget process including annual budget development and systems to ensure that actual expenses are in line with budgeted expenses, as well as adhering to its fiscal policies and procedures, and ensure that school invoices are paid on time
• Manage student information database system
• Ensure school-wide compliance with health and safety laws, contracts, state education mandates and all federal and state workplace regulations
• Oversee creation and distribution of progress reports, report cards, and transcripts as necessary
• Oversee all school-based purchasing and procurement
• Oversee the maintenance of technology equipment and infrastructure, and ensure that technology issues do not interfere with instruction
• Work with appropriate staff to ensure hallway and general facility decorations, including student work, are updated and maintained regularly
• Ensure that school-based employees receive payroll and benefits in a timely and accurate manner
• Work to prepare for school authorizer site and renewal visits
• Manage visitor program for the school
• Manage office manager, special projects coordinator,community and family coordinator, food services staff, custodians, and other non-instructional staff
Qualifications
• A strong belief in UP Education Network's core values: Students, Community, Humility, Resilience, and Humor
• Bachelor's degree is required
• Current authorization to work in the United States - A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment
Compensation and Benefits
Your salary is commensurate with experience; UP Academy follows the salary scales of each UP Academy's host school district. As an employee of UP Academy and your respective school district, you will receive the same access to personal and sick days, health insurance, and dental insurance as others within your union.
