Job Description
This class is accountable for providing support to program staff to promote classroom environments conducive to student learning, growth, and development. It serves as an intermediary between students and staff with the goal of providing proactive and responsive advice to staff in an effort to prevent disruptive student behaviors.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Successful completion of a program providing specialized training in safety/security and responding to crises OR Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, safety and security, or a related field received from an accredited institution AND two (2) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or from challenging backgrounds.
• Must also have a working knowledge of de-escalation techniques as well as intervention strategies.
• Substitution Allowed:
  Someone having an equivalent combination of education and experience, as listed in the general education and experience above, will be considered as having an acceptable substitution.
• Character Requirement:
  In addition to the checking of references and of facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate will be made prior to appointment.

Licensure Requirements

• Licensed Protective Agent
• State of Minnesota Emergency Manager Certified (Preferred)
