This is a full-time, 10-month teaching position that will be responsible for providing instruction to students.

Detailed Description:

Resident Teacher Program

This is a one-year training program that begins in the summer. This program consists of 5-6 weeks of training, an internship (4-8 weeks) and weekly after-school trainings throughout the school year of one evening per week. Participants receive a mentor teacher to help guide them during their year of residency. Participants successfully completing all requirements will obtain a professional certification from the state at the end of the Resident Teacher Program.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in a field other than education from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • A total of 30 semester hours in the content or a major in the subject area (Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Spanish etc.) in which you seek certification with a 2.75 GPA in this subject area.
  • The 30 semester hours of content are not required for Math and Technology Education. For these courses, you must pass Praxis II to qualify.
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural edcuation.
  • Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community and other school system staff.
  • Excellent oral and communication skills.
  • Applicants must pass basic skills assessment (Praxis Core, Praxis I, GRE, ACT, or SAT) and Praxis II content before the end of April 2017.
