Title: School Improvement Coach

Position Summary:

Works with teachers and students in Title I schools to improve the quality of teaching and students learning in any of the core content areas (reading, language arts, math, science, or social studies) with a focus on reading/language arts or math.

This position is grant-funded and thereby staffed year-to-year.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists teachers and grade level teams with the implementation of the Georgia Standards of ExcellenceWorks with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methodsAnalyzes student and teacher test data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for each concept taughtAnalyzes student test data and advise teachers and appropriate staff of trends, outcomes, needs and effective practicesRecommends changes to current practices, approaches, methods, strategies, and assessments as neededDemonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategiesRecommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomesServes as the liaison for professional learning between Title I/Curriculum and the schoolCoordinates site-based professional learning activities as neededConducts professional development at the school as neededInforms faculty of professional development opportunitiesParticipates in periodic professional learning activities Performs other Title I duties as assigned by the Principal or Title I Grant Manager

Education and Experience:
Education:

  • For Elementary: Bachelor's Degree required preferably in Elementary Education; Master's Degree preferredFor Middle or High School Math: Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Mathematics; Master's Degree preferredFor Secondary Reading and Language Arts: Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Reading, English or Language Arts; Master's Degree preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience within the last six years required


Certification/Licensure:

  • For Elementary: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education for Elementary School or Early Childhood Reading or Mathematics Endorsement; Completion of the Fulton County Early Literacy Phonics Pathway preferredFor Middle School Math: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Middle Grades Mathematics (4-8) or Mathematics (6-12)For Secondary Reading and Language Arts: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Reading (P-12), English (6-12), or Reading Endorsement in addition to a base secondary field (6-12)


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have professional knowledge and proven use of effective teaching strategies and professional knowledge of curriculum-based assessmentsStrong desire to work with at-risk students and developing teachersAbility to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levelsHigh technological skill level requiredDemonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential informationMust be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilitiesAbility to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issuesMust be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
    Excellent organizational skills

    Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing


Salary Information:

Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience and education calculations from the Teacher Support Salary Schedule (190 Days)
