E ssential Functions and Objectives:

The Long Term Substitute Teacher teaches a diverse school student population grade level standards based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Personal Development. Monitors, supervises, coordinates and enforces rules of conduct and behavior of assigned students, and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy. Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

- Must possess a current Colorado Teacher License with appropriate endorsement.

ELA-E Job Description:

- Provides instruction to linguistically diverse students in English only.

Elementary Education Job Description:

- Teaches diverse elementary school students grade level standards based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Personal Development.

Centennial, A School for Expeditionary Learning is a neighborhood school in Northwest Denver. The EL model challenges students to think critically and take active roles in their classroom and communities, resulting in higher achievement and greater engagement in school. At EL schools learning is active, challenging, meaningful public and collaborative. Centennial currently serves approximately 500 students in grades ECE-5 and 7-8. Over the course of the next two years Centennial will phase out the middle years program. By the start of the 2015-16 school year Centennial, A School for Expeditionary Learning will be an ECE-5 school. Centennial's population is 75% Hispanic and 80% Free/Reduced Lunch. Centennial is a Transitional Native Language Instruction (TNLI) school and provides native language Spanish instruction in one classroom per grade level. Students are grouped in multi-aged classrooms at Centennial to ensure strong relationships are developed between teachers, students and families.
