Develop and implement integrated communications strategies that support the organization's community engagement goals in the Office of Faith Based Initiatives and the faith based community.

Supports each current Safe Haven vendor to ensure programs are being monitored and implemented in sub-sites properly by providing weekly attendance reports, site monitoring reports, curriculum implementation and development in each site, and ensure all vendors, volunteers, and any staff working in a Safe Haven site have been properly cleared through the CPS Background Check process.

Monitor programs within OFBI such as the Church Adopt-A-School program, the Children's First Fund Partnership, and the Safe Haven Program.

Strategize and develop partnerships within the city of Chicago directly correlated to children's programming and trainings: Junior Achievement (Financial Literacy); Bulldog Solutions (Social Emotional Learning); Capacity Building (Site/Organizational Development); Common Threads (Nutritional & Healthy Eating); Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago - Impact of Trauma on Youth and Communities: The Role of Caring Adults toward Understanding and Resilience

Work with leadership team and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions, and defines and executes appropriate strategies to support them.

Develop structures of support to monitor the implementation of programming within the Safe Haven sites, and other programming sites relative to the Office of Faith Based Initiatives (OFBI).

Ensure the success of communications strategies to support goals and the organization's image.

Works with the CPS Crisis team to ensure the CPS families of youth affected by tragic circumstances are supported through programs of support, such as bereavement counseling, anti-violence programs, anti-bullying programs, etc.

Support the initiatives and programming in the Safe Haven sites during After School programs, Spring and Winter programs, and Summer programming.

Identify opportunities to communicate OFBI initiatives, and promote collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders.

Provide feedback and consultative advice on communication of community engagement goals and initiatives.

Introduce newly identified resources that maximize internal and external communications.

Reports directly to the Director of the Office of Faith Based Initiatives.

Performs other duties as they might be assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Three (3) or more years of program management and/or customer service experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills to build and maintain trust with internal departments, as well as volunteers and community partners.

  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) skills.

  • Ability to quickly analyze a problem/question and decide the level of importance and necessary higher level intervention.
  • Engages community partners, faith-based leaders, and constituents involved in faith based programs and services to support the schools, safe haven sites, religious institutions, community centers within the community.


Residency Requirement: As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district
