Primary Purpose

Support and guide active learning instruction. Work collaboratively with campus department/grade
level chairs. Work in concert with District Departments in order to improve academic achievement
through active learning strategies. Act as a campus instructional specialist to assist teachers in
improving mathematics instruction on the campus

Qualifications

Education/Certification
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills

• In-depth knowledge of differentiated instruction, active, and blended learning to enhance
instruction

• In-depth knowledge in working with all student populations including At-Risk, English
Language Learners, Special Education, Gifted & Talented, Homeless, and Migrant

• Demonstrated instructional leadership ability in working with administrators, teachers,
students, parents and the general public

• Demonstrated ability to obtain, disaggregate, and analyze data and develop strategies to target
areas of need to improve academic achievement

• Demonstrated ability in communication, organizational, presentation, curriculum writing, and
implementation skills

• In-depth knowledge of mathematics instructional best practices, formative assessment tools,
and processes to monitor and gauge student improvement

Experience

Three (3) years teaching experience in mathematics
ESL Certification (must obtain within the first year)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Instructional and Program Management
1. Provide comprehensive teacher support for student instruction through active participation and

collaboration with District mathematics facilitators.
2. Serve as a resource for the Campus Improvement Team (CIT) to inform and set instructional goals and

plan campus instructional initiatives to meet the District Strategic Priorities.
3. Provide support to the Campus Principal in obtaining and analyzing data to identify areas of need.
4. Assist the campus leadership team in creating, implementing, and evaluating the campus staff

development plan.
5. Provide support that enables teachers to grow in their expertise with the implementation of blended

learning through the SAMR Model.
6. Serve as a resource for supporting teachers in their implementation of quality Tier 1 mathematics

instruction for students.

7. Serve as a resource for teachers in their implementation and monitoring of Response to Intervention
(RtI) including supporting the development of formative assessments.

8. Serve as a mentor for the Active Learning Framework.
9. Provide support and professional development in the collection and analysis of student data (e.g.

screening diagnostic, progressive monitoring, and observations) to guide instructional decisions that
improve student outcomes as specified by Title I designated school wide and State Compensatory
Education (SCE) programs.

10. Plan and deliver personalized and sustained professional development for various teachers (e.g. 1:1,
small group, and large group)

11. Collaborate with other district Active Learning Leaders (ALLs) (within feeder, area, level etc.) to
share resources, support one another, and serve as mentor.

12. Help facilitate future-ready learning and technology integration by building capacity to effectively use
devices for instruction.

13. Attend district Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and other mandatory staff development.
14. Collaborate and provide support for teachers with:

• Implementing effective mathematics PLC's
• Developing standards-based aligned lessons
• Vertical and horizontal alignment at the campus and district level.
• Reaching EPISD Student Learning Goals
• Providing flexible learning environments
• Creating personalized learning experiences for their students with a specific focus on At-Risk and

struggling students.
• Creating project-based learning (PBL) experiences
• Designing lessons that make rich interdisciplinary/cross-curricular connections
• Implementing digital learning experiences

15. Support and encourage teacher sharing of exemplary practices, lessons, assessments, and teacher
leadership.

School/Community Relationships
16. Interact and provide information to the community regarding active learning and academic programs

that support At-Risk students.
17. Promote and communicate high expectations of At-Risk student performance.

District and state travel.

Terms of Employment
187 days; salary to be established by the Board of Trustees
