Essential Functions and Objectives:

Elementary Job Description

- The Elementary Teacher teaches a diverse elementary school student population grade level standards based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Personal Development. Monitors, supervises, coordinates and enforces rules of conduct and behavior of assigned students, and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy. Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.

ELA-E Job Description

- Provides instruction to linguistically diverse students in English only.

English Language Development (ELD) Job Description

- Teaches appropriate grade level standards based curriculum in English language development and personal development. Follows the Avenues curriculum or other school/ district approved curriculum. Administers the Language Assessment Scale (LAS) test to English language learners.

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

- Must possess a current Colorado Teacher License with endorsement in Elementary Education OR passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education OR qualify for Alternative License with a passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education.

Education equivalent experience:

Other information:

Columbian Elementary School is a TNLI school in Northwest Denver. We serve about 290 students in grades ECE through fifth. Students benefit from quality instruction among the entire staff and have opportunities to learn and grow in the arts (visual, music) and physical education. We use the Denver Public Schools' planning guides as the basis for our planning in literacy and math. Supplemental resources are provided in order to support implementation of Common Core State Standards.
