The Coordinator, Physical Education, Health, and Wellness will support all aspects of K-12 health and physical education curriculum and instruction under the supervision of the Chief Academic Officer. The Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting the vision, mission, and theory of action for K-12 health, safety & physical education (HSPE) throughout the District. S/he leads HPE curriculum & assessment development and professional learning centered on research-based instructional practices. The Coordinator will establish and collaborate on the development of student and staff wellness initiatives across the District.

Salary:
Support Administrator Salary Schedule, Level 3 (Starting at $93, 179/annually)

Qualifications:
- Valid PA Health & Physical Education teaching certification required; at least 3 years of HPE teaching experience required.

- Supervisor, Health & Physical Education K-12 or Principal certification preferred.

- Expert knowledge of the Academic Standards for Health, Safety and Physical Education (HSPE) and both student & employee wellness.

- Strong content knowledge in leveraging physical education to develop cross-curricular learning opportunities.

- Excellent presentation design and delivery skills.

- Experience with curriculum and assessment writing.

- Data analysis skills.

- Ability to work cross-functionally across a number of groups and engage multiple stakeholders in working toward a common goal.

- Knowledgeable about change management and quickly able to establish credibility among team members including partners, peers, and leadership.

- Superb communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

- Successful track record of completing projects and tasks.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Develops health education and physical education curriculum aligned to the Pennsylvania Academic Standards that also ensures a focus on student wellness.

2. Designs and delivers professional learning opportunities to various schools and central office stakeholders related to Health & Physical Education standards and instructional best practices.

3. Develops and reviews assessments to ensure rigor and alignment to the Pennsylvania Academic Standards and allows for calibration between schools within the District.

4. Complete informal and formal observations and contribute to the development of HPE teachers throughout the District.

5. Researches best practices for health and physical education instruction and incorporate them into professional development and curriculum.

6. Assist in the provision of appropriate materials and texts to enhance HPE curricular resources.

7. Establishes and leads a health education committee comprised of various stakeholders such as teachers, staff members, student health advisory members, and community organizations to develop a portfolio of health and wellness initiatives to support students and staff of PPS.

8. Coordinates with the Office of Human Resources to ensure that employee wellness initiatives and benefits offerings are aligned to the needs of District staff.

9. Coordinates with Student Support Services to ensure that schools are aware of options for student mental and physical health programs and resources.

10. Presents to various stakeholders, including teachers, central staff, and school leaders, related to HPE and wellness.

11. Oversees the planning and execution of district-wide HPE events; supports development and implementation of school-based HPE events.

12. Establishes and coordinates a student health advisory comprised of student-leaders who share health and wellness best practices with peers in their respective schools.

13. Other duties as assigned by Chief Academic Officer.

Physical Demands:
This position is primarily sedentary in nature, though in a very fast-paced office. Employee will be required to operate computer, have the ability to complete paperwork. Position requires minimum physical effort and not subjected to Occupational Health and Safety risks. Modeling the resiliency, energy, and trust necessary to implement successful District transformation, long hours can be part of the work and there is the expectation to perform at a high level.

Work Environment:
1.Indoors in busy office, working in close proximity to co-worker;
2.Frequently required to work at a fast pace;
3.Requires considerable concentration and creativity.
4. Subject to stress caused by a changing environment, diversity in the organization, tight deadlines and work load.
