Culinary Quick Start Instructor

Pay Rate: $34.41

Position Objectives:

This faculty member will provide instruction and related activities in accordance with the philosophies and procedures of Emily Griffith Technical College resulting in effective delivery of the Culinary Quick Start program and achievement of identified outcomes. Responsible for the delivery of quality instruction related to, but not limited to, the development, delivery and constant updating of curricula. Polished professional, exhibiting confidence and expertise, remaining flexible in adapting to changing demands of teaching and growing the operation and reputation of the program, and the ability to remain calm and poised under pressure with exemplary cooking and organizational abilities.

Essential Functions:

• Develop, deliver, and evaluate Culinary Quick Start curriculum with adult learners

• Teach assigned courses with demonstrated competency with multiple instructional delivery methods and focus on effective assessment

• Evaluate and document student performance using established methods and criteria

• Provide regular and constructive feedback to students in an objective, consistent, and timely manner

• Team-teach with partner instructor and coordinate student learning activities

• Demonstrate teaching skills and knowledge to perform a variety of functions in the area of Culinary Arts

• Write unit lesson plans, daily lesson plans, and various written and performance assessments in the classroom

• Work with partner instructors on program development and review for student learning

• Maintain discipline and enforce rules of conduct and behavior in accordance with school policy and Culinary Quick Start program expectations

• Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and overall performance using appropriate software systems used by Emily Griffith Technical College

• Maintain appropriate inventory for all program equipment, materials, and supplies

• Supervise and maintain the cleanliness of the classroom/lab

• Maintain exemplary levels of cleanliness, sanitation, organization and culinary execution at all times

• Oversee and maintain the safety of the students and working environment

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Instructional Dean or his/her designee Maintain exemplary levels of cleanliness, sanitation, organization and culinary execution at all times

Education & Experience:

At least 4,000 hours non-teaching occupational experience in related area within the last seven years required

Broad knowledge of techniques and practices used in the industry including multiple cooking methods and a variety of foodservice equipment
Two years teaching experience in a technical college or community college preferred
