JOB TITLE : Resource Teacher, Blended Teaching and Learning

REPORTS TO : Supervisor, Blended Teaching and Learning

SUMMARY : To support the implementation of instructional models and digital tools for blended learning, including the Learning Management System.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :

Provides K-12 support to schools in the implementation of learner-centered environments, demonstrating an understanding of the nuances of instructional models and digital tools at each level.

Leads teams in developing professional learning and support materials on digital tools that support blended learning, including the LMS.
Leads blended professional learning experiences for teachers, school-based teacher leaders, and central office staff modeling use of the Learning Management System (LMS). Provides follow-up to all professional learning as appropriate.
Provides expertise in the integration of information literacy and technology skills through curriculum development and professional development, in collaboration with K-12 curriculum offices. Provides dedicated support to summer curriculum workshops.

Provides year-round functional support for the LMS, responding to queries and escalating complex matters to the appropriate department or individual.

Maintains proficiency with applications within the LMS to continue as a subject matter expert and lead learner. Remains informed on current and emerging blended learning technologies.

Participates in LMS committees and workgroups, providing reports and updates as necessary.
Supports teacher leaders in developing knowledge and skills to create change and empower teachers as change agents, including adult learning pedagogy, change theory, facilitation skills, and personalization of professional development.
Provides individual and team coaching to teacher leaders as they work to transform educational experiences through effective integration of technology within blended learning models. Provides actionable feedback that will help teacher leaders' hone competencies.
Supports teacher leaders in identifying high-leverage needs of the school and structuring professional learning opportunities to meet those needs. Activities include facilitating professional learning communities, leading learning walks, team teaching, lesson planning, and modeling responsive instruction using technology.
Provides outreach and professional development to BCPS stakeholders on a broad range of topics related to blended learning and instructional technology.
Collaborates with the supervisor and others to communicate the district's vision, goals, and priorities regarding instructional models and digital tools for blended learning.
Maintains ongoing communication with school and district level leadership, including documentation of school visits and professional development offerings.
Models legal and ethical use of instructional technology.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience, Education and Training;
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree; plus five years of successful teaching/leadership experience in a PreK-12 public education setting. Experience with planning and implementing professional development. Experience with Learning Management Systems required. Master's degree is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications :
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Standard Professional Certificate is required.

Knowledge of the processes for collaboration among teachers, such as professional learning communities.
Knowledge of and skill in data analysis.
Knowledge of and skill in current and emerging information technologies.
Knowledge of BCPS One, LMS, and available digital tools and resources for students and teachers.
Skill in teacher leadership and job-embedded coaching.
Skill in planning and facilitating professional development activities related to teacher collaboration.
Strong human relations skills.
Ability to effectively access and obtain information from complex information systems and technologies.
Ability to effectively problem-solve, question, evaluate, organize, communicate, and demonstrate time-management skills.
Ability to identify personal areas for growth and engaging in professional development on coaching, blended learning, and instructional technology.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
This position is generally sedentary and performed in an office/school environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities. Requires travel to schools and offices throughout Baltimore County.

FLSA STATUS : Exempt

Eligible for membership in the Maryland State Retirement System.

This class specification defines the types of duties and level of difficulty of work required of positions in this title. It shall not be held to exclude duties not mentioned nor limit the right of management to assign work to employees.

  • Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $79.75. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
