Department Description:

Under the direction of the Principal, the Wing Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Principal in providing instructional leadership, compliance oversight, and provides appropriate educational programing for students assigned to the program. The Wing Coordinator is responsible to communicate with parents and families, outside agencies as well as staff from other programs.

This is an ASASP Unit II Position (11 months) - Table F - Grade 2

Salary: $85,998 - 119,041

Detailed Description:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Identify and assess the instructional and environmental modification needs, learning styles and appropriate techniques for use with student to facilitate placement in the natural environment;
  • Assist teachers and related services personnel in designing and implementing an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student;
  • Participate in IEP meetings;
  • Participate in evaluation and placement of special education students;
  • Provide in-service opportunities for special education staff members;
  • Provide for ongoing parental involvement and participation in the program;
  • Assist in the development of reports and other department documents;
  • Assist with mediation and due process hearings as needed;
  • Monitor individual caseloads and provide instructional leadership to support individuals in development of IEP and related data;
  • Outreach to expand community connections;
  • Represent Special Education Program at meetings and conferences as requested to give and receive information;
  • Facilitate the completion of educational assessments and reporting as needed;
  • Monitor special education programs to ensure compliance with federal and state mandates; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Job Requirements:

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Knowledge of trends, research and initiative related to LRE and natural environment;
  • Knowledge and experience with parent coaching and developmentally appropriate practices;
  • Expertise in providing instruction through a parent coaching and mentoring model in a variety of natural and inclusive settings;
  • Effective program planning and organizational skills;
  • Ability to collect, manage and analyze data; and
  • Demonstrated skill in effective human relations and in oral and written communication.

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Master's degree in Special Education or related field; Three (3) years successful teaching experience in special education, including experience working with peers in instructional setting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Advanced Professional Certificate in Special Education; Administrator I Certification required.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    No direct supervisory responsibilities.
