ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a Director of Operations for a public charter school within the Research Triangle - Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. The school-based Director of Operations (DOO) oversees all non-instructional components of the school. The DOO is responsible for ensuring the overall operational efficiency of the school providing day-to-day oversight of the following: budgeting, purchasing, facilities, food services, transportation, technology, student recruitment, student data, regulatory compliance, human resource administration, and academic operations support. The DOO serves as a key member of the School Leadership Team (SLT), and works in close partnership with the network.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facilities & Maintenance
  • Oversee systems and processes for facilities maintenance and capital improvements, as well as building growth plan
  • Ensure adequate building security measures and access controls
  • Manage school's asset and supply inventory, including purchasing of furniture, equipment, supplies
Student Services
  • Manage and operationalize logistics of student arrival, dismissal, and transitions
  • Oversee all planning and logistics of onsite and offsite school events such as field trips, report card nights, performances, etc
  • Manage and operationalize parent and family communication
Finance and Purchasing
  • In close partnership with the school's finance team, serve as point contact in the annual budget planning process
  • Support budgetary tracking of school expenses to support growth
  • Ensure clear purchasing processes and systems are adhered to by all staff members
  • Ensure all vendors are paid accurately and timely
Technology and Equipment
  • Manage technology procurement/inventory process in concert with the school's charter network
  • Ensure student technology is sufficient to support instructional goals
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software requests from teachers and staff
  • Manage user accounts and system security
  • Manage student technology lab to ensure its full functionality
  • Coordinate user training programs to ensure effective and efficient use of technological resources
Student Information and Testing
  • Manage oversight of all student record data (enrollment, attendance, disciplinary actions, demographic data, immunization records, emergency medical information, special education) to ensure it is up to date and accurate in the student information system (PowerSchool), including auditing for data integrity
  • Serve as testing coordinator to manage all logistics of student test administration, including ordering materials, scheduling, and classroom set up for North Carolina State Exams and the school's interim assessment
  • Work with instructional leadership team to generate student report cards and progress reports
Student Recruitment and Enrollment
  • Coordinate student recruitment events, including open houses, tours, and information sessions
  • Manage recruitment marketing strategy
  • Serve as point person to run the student lottery
  • Manage new student and returning student registration
Risk Management, Compliance, and HR Performance Management
  • Create, update and maintain building safety plan
  • Plan and conduct all school-wide safety drills
  • Maintain adherence to all employment laws and policies in partnership with network
  • Create and manage systems for all mandated reporting to NCDI and federal agencies
  • Manage maintenance of staff records, employee files and certifications

  • Experience working in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters preferred
