  • TYPE OF APPOINTMENT ISSUED: This position is included in the Educational Officers' Bargaining Unit and will be filled as a clear line appointment.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: COMPLEX SCHOOL RENEWAL SPECIALIST II
    Training: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in education or a closely related field.
    Experience: Six (6) years of responsible professional work experience in education, of which four (4) years shall have been in teaching and two (2) years in implementing curiculum improvement at the school level.
    Knowledge of: Foundations of curriculum and instruction; the school renewal process and the process of change; foundations of American education; principles of learning and individual differences; tests and measurements; relevant laws, rules, regulations and administrative procedures.
    Desired Knowledge: Foundations in Response to Intervention, Special Education and English Learner curriculum design and development; instructional media and computers; educational statistics; purposes, methods, subject matter and materials pertinent to the areas of assignment; research developments, trends and current issues or problems pertinent to the areas of assignment.
    Ability to: Provide leadership, planning and coordination of effective support services to schools within a complex; communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing; operate computer and other business machines.
    Skills/Abilities Desirable: Develop, analyze and evaluate plans, programs and procedures; use social media positively in support of student, teacher, and school public relations; use tools, equipment, instruments or devices appropriate to the areas of assignment; maintain awareness of developments in curriculum or program areas.
  • A WRITTEN EXAMINATION/ASSIGNMENT MAY BE ADMINISTERED TO HELP DETERMINE POSSESSION OF THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES PORTIONS OF THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS.
  • Duties and Responsibilities: Under the general supervision of the Complex Area Superintendent of the Kauai Complex Area, the Complex School Renewal Specialist II:
    1. Assists and supports all schools within the complex with the implementation of the department's strategic plan, including foci on common core standards, instructional strategies, smarter balanced assessment, whole child and social/emotional learning, Special Education and high needs students, English Learners, foster and homeless students, universal screening and school improvement efforts.
    2. Plans, coordinates, and conducts staff/professional development, leadership and human resource development activities. Assists principal, vice principal, and role group PLCs. Develops protocols within the complex, may conduct investigations, and manages various budgets.
    3. Assists and supports all schools within the complex with accreditation, data use and analysis for school improvement; assessment and evaluation activities; and access to relevant and applicable research information.
    4. Serves as a resource broker and linker to complex area, district, and state office resources. Identifies and coordinates the use of resources within and among schools in the complex.
    5. Plans, coordinates, conducts, and leads complex community and family engagement efforts. Serves as the communications lead for the Complex Area.
    6. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

  • SALARY RANGE: EOSR-7, $95,483 to $135,163. Department of Education certificated employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations. All others will be placed on the first step of $95,483.
  • WORK YEAR AND BENEFITS: This appointment will be on a 12-month basis with vacation and sick leave provided according to applicable regulations.
