QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED.

One year of post-secondary training and three years of experience as a secretary; or five years of experience as a secretary.

Proficiency (60 wpm) in keyboarding.

Proficient in technology, such as Microsoft Office, and use of office equipment. Must be willing to engage in ongoing learning in the field of office technology.

Excellent communication skills. Strong knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Demonstrate a high degree of customer service skills and professionalism.

Knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting principles.

Ability to effectively organize and operate a welcoming customer-focused office.

Ability to take initiative to creatively solve problems, and to participate and communicate as a member of a team.

Ability to accomplish responsibilities with minimum supervision.

Ability to remain calm and work with frequent interruptions.

Ability to prioritize in order to meet strict timelines.

Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Regular attendance is required.

Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal or designee

JOB GOAL: Assist efficient operations of the school office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Organize and promote a welcoming customer-focused office.

Provide primary secretarial services for the Principal/Assistant Principal/Department Supervisor.

Obtain, organize, and enter pertinent data in an accurate and timely fashion such as, but not limited to, staff, building, and child accounting records.

Perform duties according to district/building/departmental procedures.

Establish procedures for updating records, filing and scanning systems.

Maintain and order an appropriate inventory of school/office supplies.

Serve as a vital liaison for communication involving staff, students, parents, and community

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate all clerical functions for the supervisor/department.

Assist in providing building/department information and procedures.

Assist supervisor in budgetary strategies.

Maintain departmental policies, procedure manuals and work instructions.

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full year

EVALUATION: For new employees, evaluations will be performed according to the current collective bargaining agreement. For transferring employees, evaluations will be done at 30 days. All regular employees will be evaluated at least yearly.
