POSITION :

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

SUPERVISOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (Title IV)

QUALIFICATIONS :
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree, a New York State School Attendance teacher certification, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), School District Leader (SDL), or School Building Leader (SBL) Certificate. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of New York State Laws ยง3214, 3204, 3202, 3205, 3209, 3210,3215,3216, New York State Uniform Rules for the Family Court (Part 205), Uniform Rules For The City Courts Outside The City Of New York (Part 206), and FERPA. must have three years of approved and appropriate experience in a pupil personnel services tenure area. Candidates with experience in school counseling, school psychology, social work, and special education are highly encouraged to apply.
DUTIES :

The Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) New Education Bargain with Student and Parents focuses on providing students and parents with a pathway to opportunity that will lead to achievement and success. Services for our Neediest Children and Families serves as one of the focus areas of the district in executing its commitment to students and parents. Under the direction of the Director of Guidance and Counseling, the Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
  • Assisting in the development, coordination and administration of student support programs designed to address the needs of the district's neediest children and parents.
  • Executing the district's Title IV Student Support Plan.
  • Facilitating the BPS Inter-High Program
  • Developing short and long term goals and initiatives associated with plan.
  • Managing the Title IV grant and grant deliverables and goals.
  • Supervising Student support staff members.
  • Providing training to student support staff members (i.e. attendance teachers, school counselors, student support teams, community education leaders), school staff and administrators, parents, students, and community based organizations.
  • Serving as liaison with the following District partners to increase student success rates: Say Yes, Erie I BOCES staff, City of Buffalo personnel and Mayor's office, Erie County Family Court personnel, Erie County Department of Social Services staff, Buffalo City Court staff, Read to Succeed Buffalo staff, United Way/Closing the Gap personnel, Community Action Organization, Buffalo Neighborhood Block Clubs, etc..
  • Data gathering, validating, analyzing, and dissemination
  • Serving as a support and consultant to schools in support of addressing student social, emotional, and wellness needs.
  • Conducting Attendance Administrative Hearings
  • Other duties deemed necessary by the Director of Guidance and Counseling for the successful operation of the department.

APPOINTMENT :

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
